How it all began…
Let’s go back to 2020.
Our Favorite year… I know.
It all started in 2018 actually.
It was the year I graduated college. Actually, no. Scratch that. It started the year I was 13. What year was that anyway? When I was starting 7th grade.
I am a hundred percent sure Red Lips began in the back patio of my school as I was wearing, yes, my red school uniform.
I liked Michael, he was my classmate. Very handsome white, blue-eyed little blonde male that I had a crush on, the size of Texas.
All I could think that recess was that I wanted to give my first kiss. And a really good friend of mine,Jamison… decided that we should play truth or dare in the attempt of meeting that goal.
We failed.
The kiss was not accomplished and my heart was broken.
From that day on, my confidence was a little shaken. I blamed everything: Was I just not pretty enough? What had happened? Why hadn’t Michael wanted to kiss me?
I didn’t understand.
I started becoming very interested in fashion, on trends.
I wanted to be pretty, I could not possibly face another failed attempt at a first kiss.
Years passed… and when I got to college (don’t worry, I gave my first kiss long before this, but I will save that story for another day so you can keep reading my blog) that same friend and I, where remembering the failure of this attempt of a kiss.
My friend said to me: “I still don’t understand. You have always looked so sexy in those Red Lips.”
Of course, when I was thirteen, I did not wear red lipstick but my lips have always had that tint naturally.
In my college years, I of course, became a fan of Taylor Swift. And if you’re a fan, you know that she always wears red lips. So did I. All the time, and everyone loved it.
Jamison then, gave me the idea of starting a makeup blog, with the name of Red Lips.
Red Lips has had many shapes and sizes, many ideas and forms. It was a YouTube blog, a Facebook little store, a fun- creative way to make stories on Instagram; but most importantly, the statement of what made me feel beautiful.
This logo I am presenting is my new creation. The re-branding of the launching of a brand that once healed me. No way Michael would ever reject a kiss from these red lips now.
(Im really hoping he will read this).
I am now establishing myself in Woodinville and I am happy to announce Red Lips is a place for women to feel empowered.
I have always been a firm believer that makeup enhances the traits that already make us gorgeous. Sure, makeup is also a space for creativity, for craziness, for expression.
That is what Red Lips is: expression.
These designs, are applied principles of photography, concept and typography. How the play of the three come in juxtaposition to create a campaign that invites women to feel seen, heard, BEAUTIFUL.
I have tried my best to choose pictures that express emotion, and ideas that best fit what I have felt in the journey of creating Red Lips.
I chose black and Red as primary colors because they contrast each other in a beautiful way. It is also a little bit aggressive and I want the composition to feel powerful.
The kiss is the taste of sweetness the brand has. The nice purpose of it, and the beauty component.
The slogan says “Wear the wow” because usually, when you wear Red Lips, there will very likely be someone that sees you and says “WOW!” Red is a wonderful, attention-grabbing color.
Red is a confident color and I could not think of a better representative for this movement of bravery that is meant for women to feel beautiful in their own skin and own it.
Be Bold.
Wear Red Lips.
